Meeting Program:  The speaker for tomorrow’s Rotary meeting (Wed, 9/23) is Becky Testa.  She will be speaking to us about “Girls on the Run”.  This is a regular lunch meeting at Copper Hill Country Club at 12:15pm.

The Next RCOF Board Meeting is Tonight:  Tues, 9/22/09 @ 5:45 PM

Ride for Rotary Meeting (Wed, 9/23 @ 11:30am):  There will be a Ride for Rotary follow-up meeting tomorrow morning (Wed, 9/23 at 11:30am) at Copper Hill.  The purpose will be to discuss this year’s event and discuss the potential support for another next year.  Discussions for the possibility of next year would be a commitment of members to help at the event.  This year we had approximately 55% of the club help.  The likely date for next year would be Sat, September 18, which also happens to be Rosh Hashanah.  This will need to be discussed further.

Intercity Dinner (Wed, 9/23):  The Rotary District 7510 Intercity Dinner (Homes of Hope) will be tomorrow night, Wed, September 23.  Please see President Jim for more information if you would like to attend.

Flemington Rotary HATS – For Sale:  Bob Burgard purchased (20) Royal Blue baseball hats with the Rotary International Logo embroidered onto them.  Bob is selling these just to recover his costs of purchasing them, which is $10 per hat.  Payment shall be directly to Bob Burgard as he bought these himself on a first come, first served basis.

OktoberFest (Sun, 10/4 from 4pm to 7:30pm):  George Muller and the Fellowship Committee are planning an OKTOBERFEST fellowship celebration on Sunday, October 4th at The Ship Inn in Milford, NJ.  This would run from 4pm to 7:30pm.  Cost is $45 per couple  (or)  $25 per single.  This includes tax, tip and 2 servings (32 oz.) of George Muller’s famous PADRE beer.  George is providing the recipe and The Ship Inn will brew it!!!  There is no cost for young children.  There is a minimum of (30) required to make the event official.  At this point, we are very close.  If you haven’t responded and you are interested, please respond to Bob Chittenden with the number attending.

Checks shall be made out to the “Rotary Club of Flemington”.  Include “OktoberFest” in the memo line.  Checks shall be handed to Tom Thatcher, who is the current lunch treasurer.  Tom will then write a check directly to The Ship Inn.

Members can bring their favorite stein to quaff your beer.
Additional beers will cost $2.80 per serving (16 oz.)

A Cash Bar will be available for any other beverage (hard alcohol, alternate beers, etc.) except for soft drinks, which will be provided at no additional cost.

A German Dinner will be Weisswurst, Bratwurst, Sauerbraten, Sauerkraut, Red Cabbage and German Potato salad.

Desert will be Apfel Strudel home made by Linda Muller.


35th Annual PANCAKE DAY, BAKE SALE & HALLOWEEN HIGH SCHOOL

Hunterdon Central Regional High School Commons, Flemington, NJ
7:00 AM to 1:00 PM
$7 for adults; $4 for children ages 5 – 11; and Children under 5 are free.

“I think this year’s event will be awesome!!!” say Terry Ownes, co-chairman of the Rotary Club of Flemington’s annual Pancake Day.  The popular fundraiser runs from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Commons at Hunterdon Central High School in Raritan Township. The Commons is near Hunterdon Central’s field house on Junction road.

Rotary has also “spooked” up the menu with the addition of Rotary’s Boo-Berry & Count Chocula Pancakes for all ages to enjoy!!!!!

This year’s special activities will include an indoor Halloween High School, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Flemington and students from Hunterdon Central Regional High School.  Kids Kindergarten through Grade 3 are invited to join the fun at Halloween High School from 10 a.m. to 12noon. There will be Haunted House decorated hallways, children's scary story time in the Little Theater and all kinds of Halloween activities and games in different classrooms. Kids and their parents can come together and there will be prizes and gifts to families and kids who come in costume.

“In addition to the flapjacks flying and sausage sizzling on Saturday, October 31, we will also have a Bake Sale for all to enjoy!”  The Bake Sale will offer tempting cookies, candy, cakes, pies and pastries made by Rotary members and their spouses.

Pancake Day tickets are available in advance from Flemington Rotary Club members, or at the door on October 31.  You get as many pancakes as you want, with butter and syrup, a serving of sausage, coffee, tea, juice and milk.

Money raised by Pancake Day will benefit the Rotary Club of Flemington’s local charitable projects, which are devoted to the youth, elderly and the disabled.  This includes scholarships for local high school graduating seniors.
