Meeting Program:  The speaker for tomorrow’s Rotary meeting (Wed, 10/28) is Fred Barden.  He will be speaking to us about “Family Genealogy”.  This is a regular lunch meeting at Copper Hill Country Club at 12:15pm.

CRAZY TIE Contest (Wed, 10/28):  President Jim has announced that there will be a Crazy Tie Contest at tomorrow’s club meeting (Wed, 10/28).  There will be cash prize for the Best Tie as judged by Joanie.

Member Re-Induction (Doug Steinley):  Former member, Doug Steinley of HealthQuest, will be inducted back into the club at tomorrow’s meeting.

Pancake Day Meeting (Wed, 10/28 @ 1:30pm):  The 35th Annual Pancake Day is only 4-Days Away!!!  Terry Ownes has called the final Pancake meeting prior to the event at 1:30pm tomorrow following the regular club meeting at Copper Hill.

35th Annual PANCAKE DAY, BAKE SALE & HALLOWEEN HIGH SCHOOL (Sat, 10/31 from 7am to 1pm):  The 35th Annual Pancake Day will be held this coming Saturday at the Hunterdon Central Regional High School Commons located on Junction Road in Flemington!!!  Attached is a PDF of the Rotarians that have signed up to help on Friday night (6-8pm) and on Saturday.  If you are not signed up to help, please let us know if you could lend a hand.  Aside from the hard work making the event happen, this is a fantastic form of fellowship for club members.  This year’s menu is also “spooked” up with the addition of Rotary’s Boo-Berry & Count Chocula-Chip Pancakes for all ages to enjoy!!!!!

Event Signs:  If you drive around town, you can see the fantastic new signs promoting Pancake Day, thanks to the efforts of Terry Ownes!

Halloween High School:  Lisa Brady and the H.C.R.H.S. are working hard to make the Halloween High School a huge success for the kids!!!  The Halloween High School is free to kids Kindergarten through Grade 3 from 10 a.m. to 12noon. There will be Haunted House decorated hallways, children's scary story time in the Little Theater and all kinds of Halloween activities and games in different classrooms. Kids and their parents can come together and there will be prizes and gifts to families and kids who come in costume.

Apple Cider & Pumpkin Stand:  Wayne & Wendy Randolph are working hard to bring an indoor festive stand to life that will allow participants to purchase Apple Cider and Pumpkins.  This is something the club used to do years ago, which is great to have again!!!

Bake Sale:  Terry Martin & Gwen Williams are heading up the Bake Sale.  All Rotarians are requested to bring a baked item to the event.  You can drop items off on Friday night (10/30) between 6-7pm at the HCRHS Commons OR on Saturday Morning (10/31) by 7:00 am. If everyone made something, we could make an extra $300.00. If you can’t make something, we will happily take donations instead!!!  Thanks in advance for your support!!!  If you have any questions, please contact Terry Martin.

Ticket Monies:  Ticket monies can be turned into Dan Alte, who is helping with the tickets.  Members are requested to turn in monies by Wed, 11/4.  Thank you to the members that have already sent in their checks.

The Board previously approved a motion to dedicate the principal portion of money raised by Pancake Day to benefit scholarships for Hunterdon Central and Hunterdon County Polytech students.

Flemington Main Street Halloween Costume Parade - Saturday October 31, 2009 6 pm:  The line up and staging of kids will take place starting at 5 pm in front of Library on corner of Main & Maple.

Organized by the Flemington VFW Post 7856. Parade will start at 6 pm and last for approximately 1-1/2 hours. There will be prizes awarded for best costume based on age groups. Each child will get a free bag of candy. Marchers will be led by fire truck and judging will take place in front of Union Hotel. For more information contact Bob Godowns 732-921-5055.

Rotary United Nations Day (Sat, November 7, 2009):  About 1,500 people, including Rotarians, Rotaract & Interact Members, and United Nations leaders, will attend the Rotary UN Day in New York City on November 7th.  Organized by RI representatives to the UN, the day will feature panel discussions on water, literacy, health, and youth.  Speakers from the United Nations, Rotary, and other non-governmental organizations will discuss humanitarian programs and provide insight into the more than 60-year relationship between Rotary and the UN.  The program will also include a youth panel featuring a speaker from Interact and Rotaract, who will each present a 10-minute description of a hands-on international club projects.  Learn more, including how to register, at www.riunday.org.  All registration forms must be submitted by October 23rd.  Early registration is encouraged.  Contact Otto Reinbacher if you need any further information.

Eat, Drink & Share (Mon, November 9, 2009):  The annual “Eat, Drink & Share” District Fundraiser will be held on Monday, November 9th from 6 to 9pm at The Pines Manor in Edison, NJ.  Flemington Rotary has taken a table of (10) at the event.  Please contact Jim Davidson if you are interested in attending.  If more than (10) members or spouses are interested in going, additional tickets may be purchased for $50 in advance or $60 at the door.  Proceeds from this event support the Humanitarian Efforts of The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International.

Rotary Holiday Party (Wed, 12/9):  The members overwhelming voted to goto the Lambertville Station for this year’s Holiday Party, which will be held on Wed, December 9th.  The regular lunch meeting has been canceled in lieu of the dinner meeting.  Chris Venditti has been working hard with the Fellowship Committee to make this happen.  The costs have risen significantly over the years.  The Lambertville Station costs for the venue and dinner are $60 per person.  This will partially be paid for by the Club, however, there will be a cost of $25 per person to attend.  Sign-ups will begin shortly.

Soup Cook-Off Meeting (Wed, 11/18 @ 3pm):  Bob Burgard has called the next meeting for the 2010 “3rd Annual” Hunterdon County Rotary Soup Cook-off on November 18 at 3 PM.  The meeting will be held in Lisa Brady's office at Hunterdon Central Regional High School.

Flemington Rotary HATS – For Sale:  Bob Burgard purchased (20) Royal Blue baseball hats with the Rotary International Logo embroidered onto them.  Bob is selling these just to recover his costs of purchasing them, which is $10 per hat.  Payment shall be directly to Bob Burgard as he bought these himself on a first come, first served basis.
