Upcoming Programs Wed, 1/4: Off-Site Meeting at Matt's Red Rooster Grill located at 22 Bloomfield Avenue here in Flemington Wed, 1/11: Off-Site Meeting To Be Determined. Wed, 1/18: Off-Site Meeting at the Hunterdon Medical Center. The meeting will be held in Meeting Rooms A & B, which are located directly off the main lobby of the hospital. The program will be the HMC’s Capital Campaign. Wed, 1/25: Off-Site Meeting at the Hunterdon County Polytech in the Career Café. Polytech will be the program. In 1877, a minister from a small parish in Pennsylvania created a fund to allow disadvantaged children to spend a summer in the country. These children lived in crowded tenements in New York City and suffered from a tuberculosis epidemic. The recommended treatment was "fresh air", and so began this program. From a few needy children that first year, this fund has benefited over 1.7 million kids to date. The funds tradition of caring provides children with a much-needed respite from the inner-city streets. Thousands of youngsters enjoy summer vacations with volunteer hosts in the country.

The Flemington Rotary Club partnered with the Fresh Air Fund in 1931 to help these children and has continued to do so every year since then. This is our second oldest service project. Each year many of our Hunterdon County families reach out as volunteer host families and the Flemington Rotary Club funds a Fresh Air Picnic for the children to enjoy. How would you like to help?

2009 Flemington Fresh Air Picnic

Where: Camp Carr

When: Friday, July 10, 2009 from 6 to 8:30pm

Entertainment: Animals from the Zoo to You

Activity: Swimming (pool and river), Games & Prizes, and lots of room to play.

Food: Hamburgers, Hot Dogs and drinks provided. Everyone brings a side dish or desert.

Directions:
YMCA Camp Carr is located on the South Branch of the Raritan River, just south of Clinton.

Turn west on to Allerton Rd. at the Rt. 31 traffic light (1 mile south of NHHS). Take second left onto Lilac Dr. Take second right onto River Rd. and continue to “No Outlet” sign. Turn left at sign and follow Hamden River Rd. to camp entrance. Turn right into camp. The speed limit in the campground is 5mph. The speed limit on public roads running through camp (Camp Buck Rd.) and coming into camp (Hamden River Rd.) is 25 mph when children are not present and 5mph when they are present. Please observe speed limits for the safety of all.
