"Great time at the Ride for Rotary"Dear Bob - I just wanted to drop you a line to thank you and your fellow Flemington Rotarians for Autumn's outstanding motorcycle event in this area. My stepson Rob Kitchener attended with me, and as we have thought since the event's inception - now the 8th annual? - this is the best time one can have on a motorcycle! Since I moved to Pennsylvania, I have a 70 mile ride to The Elks, and another 70 back home but it is SO WORTH IT! As always, the food was outstanding - no other event has clams or an open bar (very classy) - and the breakfast sandwiches were a great addition to the menu. Kudos to the designer of this year's shirt - as always, a real work of art. The route was really picturesque, and the signage to the poker stops legible and well placed. Good vendors, great prizes for all levels of achievement in poker (or lack thereof - I really enjoyed the Chardonnay for my paltry pair of Aces!) Love Krazy Kat's sound resonating through the pavilion. The Elks Club is a great venue - weather protected, clean bathrooms, safe, stable parking area and plenty of room to mix and mingle. Having done some of these events myself, and attended countless others, I know how much work goes into putting an event like this together. Flemington Rotary pulls out all the stops, every year, to make this event THE event for Autumn in NJ. Please keep it going if at all possible.
Thanks again for all that you and your fellow Rotarians do! Flemington Rotary thanks our Platinum Sponsors![]() |
A leisurely ride through scenic Hunterdon County, NJ and surrounding areas
What is the Ride for Rotary?
Ride for Rotary is a family oriented community day with a motorcycle theme! It includes a motorcycle "Poker Run" type ride followed by a large picnic and clambake. The Rotary Club of Flemington will host the event and all proceeds will benefit the club's charitable projects.
Motorcycle enthusiasts and non-riders (adults, children, family and friends) are invited to attend the picnic, clambake and all of the festivities. Riders and non riders may pre-register, or register the day of the event. All pre-registered participants will receive an event T-shirt that lists all event sponsors.
A registration fee is required to participate in the ride, picnic and clambake events.
MOTORCYCLE “POKER RUN” RIDE:
This noncompetitive, self-guided ride takes riders through approximately 75 miles of scenic Hunterdon County, NJ, and may include adjacent areas of New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Riders will be given route directions at the event check-in. The “Poker Run” requires riders and passengers to make a total of five (5) stops during the route. The first four (4) stops will be along the route. The fifth (5th) stop will be at the Clinton Elks Lodge.
At each of the scheduled stops, riders will select one (1) card from a deck of playing cards. After the 5th stop, the rider will have a total of five (5) cards, thus yielding a poker hand. An event host will keep track of the poker hands.
Prizes for best poker hands will be given once all riders have returned to the Elks, but no later than 3pm.
Riders and passengers are required to provide their own motorcycles and safety gear; to have current registrations, inspections and driver’s licenses; and to obey all traffic and motor vehicle laws.We urge all motorcyclists to receive professional training before operating motorcycles and to always wear helmets and safety gear.
PRIZES:
A cash prize of $250 will be awarded for the Best Poker Hand, $100 for the Second Best Hand, and $50 for the Third Best Hand. Other high poker hands and 50/50 raffle offer more chances to win.
T-SHIRTS & RIDE PINS: T-Shirts will be given to all adults who pre-register as riders, passengers or non-riders. The shirt features art by a student in Hunterdon Polytech’s Commercial Arts program, for which he received a $500 scholarship. Ride pins may be ordered in advance. At the event, t-shirts and ride pins will be available while supplies last - t-shirts $15; ride pins $5.
50/50 CASH RAFFLE: Tickets are $10 each. Only 2000 tickets will be sold. Drawing will be held at the event at about 3pm. See ticket for more details.
LOCATION & TIME: The ride starts and ends at Clinton Elks Lodge near Pittstown, NJ. Motorcycle riders and passengers should arrive between 9am and 11am. People attending the picnic and clambake should arrive about 12noon. This rain-or-shine event lasts until about 3pm.
EVERYONE IS WELCOME! Riders and non-riders alike are invited to the picnic and clambake. Bring your friends, family and kids. Come check out the bikes and the booths! Vendors interested in selling merchandise at the event, contact Bob Burgard at (609) 397-6917 by August 17.
